Mr. Njoroge Nani Mungai
Chairman of the Board, Postal Corporation of Kenya

Mr. Njoroge Nani Mungai joined the Postal Corporation of Kenya Board on 7th August, 2020 to 12th December, 2021. Mr. Nani has a wealth of experience specializing in projects, mergers and capital market for over 30 years. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in Law from the University of Nairobi (1989 class) and a Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law among many other certifications from within and without the country.
He was a key advisor on the largest Initial Public Offer (IPO) in Eastern and Central Africa which entailed the sale of 25% of the Government of Kenya’s shareholding in The Safaricom PLC at the then Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) in 2003. He has acted for the Kenya Airports Authority and advised on the proposed airport concession of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport through a privately initiated investment proposal.
Mr. Nani has also represented the owners and developers of electricity projects including wind, solar and geothermal projects in all aspects of conceptualisation and development of the projects. He also advised Geothermal Development Company (GDC) on the utilisation, operation and maintenance of GDC’s 59 geothermal wells situated in the Olkaria basin with a production capacity of about 280 MW.
Mr. Nani has in the past been recognised by Chambers & Partners as a leading lawyer in corporate-commercial and is currently a Senior Partner at the MMC Africa Law. He is also a Board member at the Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation by the virtue of being the Chairman of PCK Board among others. He is the immediate past Chairman of the ICT Authority Board from December 2018 to August 2020.



Mr. Munyua Waiyaki

Mr. Munyua Waiyaki was appointed to the Board on 24th June 2016 and later re-appointed on May 2019. He holds a BSc in IBA (Accounting & Finance) from United States International University. Munyua is an entrepreneur and has an extensive background in Business Development, Innovation and Change Management. He has travelled by invitation, to high profileA Business Process Outsourcing Units in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore for the purpose of replicating and transferring the knowledge he has received to assist young Kenyans. He has also developed and implemented strategic plans by collaborating with several Companies in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Munyua has been engaged in private business for over 30 years.



Mr. Eric Kipkemei Bett
Director of the Board, Postal Corporation of Kenya
Mr. Eric Kipkemei Bett is a Business man and was previously a Director at the Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) from 2013 to 2019. He has also served in the initial Board of the Postal Corporation of Kenya from 1999 – 2002 after the split from the Kenya Posts & Telecommunications Corporation. Mr. Bett has also worked in the Office of the President, The Directorate of Personnel and Management (DPM) among other duties in the National Government for over two decades in various capacities.





Ms. Freda Cathreen Nyambura Gachie Kimathi
Director of the Board, Postal Corporation of Kenya
Ms. Freda Nyambura Gachie is the Managing Director and Founding Partner of Card Group East Africa Ltd. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Commerce from Kamala Nehru College of The University of Delhi. She also has an Advanced Diploma in French. Ms. Gachie has extensive expertise in Administration, Management, Leadership and Strategy. She was previously the Country manager, Direct Marketing Communications (now Exp. Momentum) for Cameroon & Gabon. During her tenure at Direct Marketing Communications, she successfully launched country offices in over 14 countries. She has formulated and implemented strategies for Draft Worldwide – A Division of Scanad! PR. Ms. Freda Nyambura Gachie formulated strategies to create an analysis profit system for Kamyn Industries Ltd (IPS K. Ltd.) and formed a strategic partnership to implement and sell socks from the factory, the BATA revolution.



Ms. Esther Ongoto Sagini
Director of the Board, Postal Corporation of Kenya
Ms. Esther Ongoto Sagini is affiliated with the Ongoto & Co. Advocates and she is a small scale farmer in Molo and Naivasha. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Eastern Africa. She is also qualified in Public Relations and Administration Management with expertise from Government Corporations over the years.





Ms. Oywer Jennifer Adhiambo
Director of the Board, Postal Corporation of Kenya
Ms. Oywer Jennifer Adhiambo works for the Nairobi City County at the Inoculation Centre currently managing the International Vaccination Centre. She holds a Bachelors Degree of Science in Nursing from the American World University. She has also attended many short courses in Medicine Management Training, Family Training, Interpersonal Management, Vaccine Management among others.







Mrs. Esther Koimett, CBS, Principal Secretary, Broadcasting and Telecommunications

Mrs. Esther Koimett, is the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communication, Technology, Innovations & Youth Affairs, state Department of Broadcasting & Telecommunications. Mrs. Koimett serves as a Director at the Postal Corporation of Kenya representing the Ministry of ICT. Prior to this she worked as the Director General Public Investment and Portfolio Management at the National Treasury. She previously served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Post Office Savings Bank.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, both from the University of Nairobi. Her long career in public service which exceeds 25 years in length, involves service as the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism. For at least 18 of those years, she has been involved in investment promotion, public enterprise reform and privatization. She is responsible for the divestiture of parastatal companies either through the selection of a “strategic investor”, or through the flotation of an IPO, on the Nairobi Stock Exchange. Some of the privatized companies through this process, include Kenya Reinsurance Corporation, Tourism Promotion Services, Kenya Railways Corporation, Kenya Airways, Kenya Commercial Bank Group, Housing Finance Group of Kenya, Mumias Sugar Company Limited, Kenya Electricity Generating Company and Safaricom PLC.



Dr. Julius Muia , Principal Secretary ,The National Treasury.

Dr. Julius Muia is the Principal Secretary at The National Treasury and currently serves as a Director at the Postal Corporation of Kenya representing The National Treasury. Prior to this, Dr. Muia was the Principal Secretary at the State Department for Planning – The National Treasury and Planning. Before his appointment as PS Planning, he was the Director General, Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat, which operated under the Office of the President, Republic of Kenya, to facilitate the implementation of Vision 2030. This is Kenya’s long-term policy framework that is premised on making Kenya a globally competitive, rapidly industrializing and upper middle-income economy by 2030.
An alumnus of the University of Nairobi’s School of Business, Dr Julius Muia graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Accounting; Masters Degree and PhD in Finance from the same university. His professional qualifications include: Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K); Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K), Associate Kenya Institute of Bankers; Associate Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; and Certified Coach.
Dr. Muia has over 25 years’ experience in Leadership in the private sector in Kenya and UK. He started his career as an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers in mid 1980s and later worked as Head of Finance and Company Secretary in the Hotel, Manufacturing and Banking sectors. His other engagements include an adjunct faculty at Strathmore Business School; adviser on Strategy and trainer on Leadership. Dr. Julius Muia serves as a non-executive board member in several companies and a number of non-profit and charitable organizations in the region.



Ms. Elizabeth Shungula
Alternate Director of the Board, Postal Corporation of Kenya
Ms. Elizabeth Shungula is a Senior Accountant and Economist working with The National Treasury. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting option from Daystar University and an MBA in Finance from Kenya Methodist University. She is also a qualified CPA (K) holder and a member of ICPAK. Ms. Elizabeth Shungula is currently the alternate Director, Postal Corporation of Kenya Board, representing the Principal Secretary, The National Treasury.





Mr. Paul Gichuki Macharia
Alternate Director of the Board, Postal Corporation of Kenya  

Mr. Paul Gichuki Macharia is the Ag. Chief Economist, Ministry of Information, Communications, Technology, Innovations & Youth Affairs. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi (1992 class) and a Masters of Arts in Economics from Indira Gandhi National Open University in India (2019).

Mr. Macharia has previously worked as an Economist in various Ministries’ including Transport & Communications, Tourism, Information & Communications and The National Treasury among others since 1996. He has also attended various Management and Leadership Certification programmes both within and without the country for the last 15 years. He was also a member of the Joint Secretary, Task force on Rationalization of Postal Corporation of Kenya August 2016 –March 2017. He represents the Principal Secretary, State Department of Broadcasting & Telecommunications, Ministry of Information, Communications, Technology, Innovations & Youth Affairs as an alternate Director of the PCK Board from January 2020.



Mr. Dan Kagwe
Postmaster General & C.E.O, Postal Corporation of Kenya
Mr. Dan Kagwe has worked extensively in the private sector including the Financial, Courier and Logistics industry in Kenya and the wider East Afrcian region for over thirty three years specifically holding senior Management level capacities at Fedex, Henkel Kenya and Diners Club International before joining Postal Corporation of Kenya in March 2013 as a General Manager in charge of Strategy & Business Development.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Hons) in Economics & Business Administration along with a Diploma in Marketing & Business Management. As an expert in Business process re-engineering, he has brought in a wealth of experience in Business Development‎ to the Corporation . He is an associate member of the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK), as an avid golfer, he served as the Chairman of Kampala Golf Club in Uganda among others.
Mr.Kagwe was first appointed as the Postmaster General in March 2017 and later re-appointed in March 2020 for the second three (3) year contract. His tenure is projected to steer several postal innovations which are already bridging the gap between the young and the old through consumption of Postal products and services.
