The government plans to facilitate the construction of at least 500,000 affordable houses by 2022 in partnership with the 47 counties. The focus will be on raising low-cost funds from the public and private sectors for investment in large scale housing production. The housing sector will reduce the cost of home ownership, create new jobs in construction sector, reduce the average cost of construction sector contributing to GDP and also reduce the low income housing gap in Kenya.
